Purchase terms

Beef purchase and deposit terms.

These are the operating terms shown in the electronic IJ Ranch beef purchase and deposit agreement.

  1. The purchaser agrees to buy the beef selected at the agreed price per pound based on hanging weight. Hanging weight is the carcass weight after slaughter and before aging, cutting, trimming, and packaging; it is not the final packaged take-home weight.
  2. The hanging-weight price covers the beef only. Butcher, cutting, wrapping, processing, specialty cuts, and related butcher charges are separate. Those prices vary by butcher location and requested processing and are the purchaser’s responsibility.
  3. IJ Ranch will arrange transportation of the animal to the butcher and coordinate the butchering appointment. The purchaser is responsible for providing cutting instructions and paying the applicable butcher and processing charges.
  4. Deposits are non-refundable. With written approval from IJ Ranch, a deposit may be transferred to another eligible IJ Ranch order or customer.
  5. Cut selections and specialty items are subject to the purchased share, the animal, and butcher availability. Single-animal extras are available only with a whole beef.
  6. IJ Ranch pays the butcher and adds the customer’s applicable butcher and processing charges to the final statement. The final balance is due on delivery by cash, cheque, or e-transfer.
  7. An available animal may be held temporarily while a deposit is pending. A hold can expire and the share can be released if the deposit is not received and verified within the stated hold period.

Deposit amounts and hold period

An available share is held for 2 days (48 hours) while payment is pending. Deposit amounts are quarter $750, half $1,500, and whole $3,000. Deposits are non-refundable but may be transferred with written IJ Ranch approval.

Weights and estimates

Animals vary. Any anticipated rail weight, take-home yield, timing, and freezer space guidance is an estimate until the butcher reports the actual weight and processing is complete.

Cut availability

Some cuts compete for the same section of beef. Quarter shares may require coordinated choices. The butcher may need to make practical adjustments based on the animal and equipment available; IJ Ranch will review material changes with the customer when possible. Once IJ Ranch locks a cut sheet and sends it to the butcher, later changes require direct approval.

Pickup and final payment

Beef is supplied frozen. IJ Ranch pays the butcher and adds the customer’s applicable butcher and processing charges to the final statement. The customer must pay the final balance on delivery by cash, cheque, or e-transfer and have sufficient cold storage available.

Ground Beef Club

Club billing runs automatically on the first of each month through Stripe. Pause or cancellation requests must be sent in writing to ranch@ironjet.ca 30 days before the next billing date. Once the month’s beef is prepared, that month’s payment is non-refundable. A missed pickup can be collected the following month or handled through the stated city-drop fee. Route timing may change for weather, processing, or safety, and IJ Ranch will notify affected customers.
